Malaysian gaming team Fnatic wins RM5.6mil in Dota 2 tournament

SEATTLE: Malaysia’s Team Fnatic made fourth place at the “Dota 2 The International tournament” here in the United States and won US$1.4 (RM5.6mil) in prize money.

The popular eSports game boasts the biggest prize pool in history – a total of US$20,727,779 (RM83,315,307) up for grabs.

The team is made up of four Malaysians – Chai Yee Fung (Mushi), Yeik Zheng Nai (MidOne), Khoo Chong Xin (Ohaiyo) and Adam Erwann Shah (343) – and one player from the Philippines, Djardel Jicko Mampusti (DJ).

An admin posted on Facebook on behalf of team captain, Mushi: “Fnatic ended their journey 4th place in The International 6. They did their best, I’m proud of them. GGWP FNATIC!!!”

It beat South Korean team MVP Phoenix in Round 4 but lost to US team Digital Chaos in the semis.

Digital Chaos will go on to battle Wings Gaming and Evil geniuses for the top three spots.
